Learn about Minnesota Girls State, a civics camp at Bethel University for girls who are between their junior and senior years of high school. It is run by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Sweetheart Rally coming up Feb. 8
ROYALTON — The Sweetheart Rally takes place Saturday, Feb. 8, at Royalton Post 137. This one starts at 11 a.m., with a noon meal and a program to follow.
Committee promotes strong defense
Strengthening and supporting military servicemembers and their families maintains and promotes this purpose. We can support military families by working with command groups and family readiness groups.

Every month we should recognize and support our veterans, but the American Legion Auxiliary recognizes December as Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Month.

Charitable gambling revenue across Minnesota rose 9 percent
ROCHESTER — Revenue rose in the realm of charitable gambling in Minnesota in fiscal year 2024 by 9 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a net of $712 million and allowing Minnesota charities to increase donations by $6 million.

Slayton’s Brad Pagel is a Gulf War veteran who survived peace
SLAYTON — Brad Pagel, 55, grew up on a dairy farm in rural Garvin, milking cows twice daily. His father served in the Army, and during Pagel’s sophomore year of high school, he became interested in following in his father’s footsteps.

Know constitutions, bylaws and rules
The Constitution & Bylaws program assists and educates members about the need to have proper governing documents at all levels. The Constitution and Bylaws for units, districts and the department are approved by Department Convention action. The Department Standing Rules are also approved by convention action.
