ALR Director: Fund 85 Run to start in Pipestone

By Jody Hassing

Happy spring! I had a great time in Montgomery earlier this month for the Appreciation Rally. This was the last rally of this Legion year. Boy, has this year gone by fast.

This month we also finalized the kickoff party for the Fund 85 Run!  The kickoff party will be July 24th at Pipestone American Legion Post 6. The doors will open at 4 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., and the program will start at 7 p.m.

A block of rooms has been reserved at Grandstay Hotel & Suites in Pipestone.  The rate is $113.90 plus tax, and the phone number for reservations is 507-562-1100.

The ending party will be July 28 at Bayport American Legion Post 491. We usually plan to arrive at the ending location between 1 and 2 p.m. More details to follow.

Information for the Fund 85 Run will be posted on Facebook and on our website: mnalr.org.

This year, the run will be around southern Minnesota. If your post’s Legion family is interested in hosting the Riders this year, please contact me or Minnesota American Legion Riders Ride Captain Ted Berg. My email is director@mnalr.org, and his is ridecaptain@mnalr.org.

Please note, National HQ is no longer accepting donations to the Legacy Scholarship Fund. I know that many of you have it in your budget to donate to the Fund 84 (the Legacy Scholarship fund), if we receive a check made out to Fund 84 those monies will be applied to the new National American Legion Riders’ mission: American Legion Veterans & Children Fund.

The Minnesota National Mission Ride will take place on Aug. 17 and will be hosted by the Slayton ALR chapter.

American Legion Riders, please remember you will receive a copy of the proposed Constitution & Bylaws to be voted on by your chapters during district conventions, if your district is organized, or from your district rep to vote on.

If you would like assistance setting up a chapter at your post, please let me or your district American Legion Riders representative know so we can help you get things going. If you are interested in having me talk to your chapter or district about the proposed Constitution & Bylaws, please contact me.

God bless, and keep the rubber side down.

Jody Hassing of Bloomington Unit 550 is the director of the Minnesota American Legion Riders.
