So now we are in the heart of the holiday season. Veterans Day and membership celebrations are behind us. Hunters are all in from the woods, and we are all stuffed like Thanksgiving turkeys. I hope everyone had a wonderful, safe autumn filled with blessings and success.

The Winter Carnival parade is Saturday, Jan. 25 — meet at Arcade-Phalen Post 577 by noon. Membership rally will be after the parade. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The past few weeks have slowed way down, but after Thanksgiving it always begins to heat back up again with the people that for the past few months have said they will not renew until the 2024 membership is just about to expire. You know who you are!

1st District Commander’s December 2024 report
I want to say Merry Christmas, and I am proud to be your commander by making sure that everyone is informed as the 1st District officers are. Everything at the district is an open book; just ask any district officer. With that being said, we still have a lot more work to be done.
Commander Moon’s Testimonial Dinner is April 5
WALKER — The Department Commander’s Testimonial Dinner takes place Saturday, April 5, at Northern Lights Casino & Hotel. Social hour starts at 5 p.m. There is a 6 p.m. dinner, with program and music to follow.
Minnesota American Legion 2025 Legislative Priorities
The 2025 Minnesota Legislature convenes Jan. 14. The annual legislative priorities issued by the Minnesota American Legion help members know which measures are being pushed this session so they can talk fluently with local lawmakers about them.

ST. PAUL — There is a new movement afoot with The American Legion nationally. It started in North Carolina and is spreading to other states.
Snowmobile ride for vets is on Feb. 15
GRAND RAPIDS — All veterans are welcome to enjoy a day snowmobiling, including lodging and meals at the annual Veterans Appreciation Ride.
National Commander’s Tour schedule released
ST. PAUL — American Legion National Commander James A. LaCoursiere Jr. visits Minnesota the week of March 24.
NECman: Winter brings district conferences, trip to D.C.
Donna and I hope you all had a very good Thanksgiving. Everyone has so much to be thankful for, some may take a little looking around for, but I promise it is there.
7th District Commander’s December 2024 Report
In October I attended a fun shoot for American Legion Junior Shooting program where I took first place, by 1 point. I then attended the Department Fall Conference in St. Cloud where I was able to meet with several members from the 7th District and of course other districts.
