ALR Director: Warmer weather is around the corner

By Jody Hassing

Hello, Legion Family!

What a wonderful week this has been with temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s. Spring is coming fast; I can only hope that the lack of snow so far this winter continues, and we have an early spring. I know most motorcycle riders cannot wait to get their bike out on the roads. In fact, my neighbor got his bike out last weekend.

The American Legion Riders Department Road Captain Ted Berg has started the planning of the Fund 85 Run for July 24-27 with the kickoff party on July 23. This year the run will be around northern Minnesota. If your Post Legion Family is interested in hosting the Riders this year, please contact myself or Ted Berg. We are seeking a place for the kickoff party and the ending party.

Please make plans to attend the Minnesota American Legion Riders Department Convention in Willmar on July 11. This year we will elect a new MNALR director to a two-year term, as well as an assistant director to a one-year term, along with a secretary/treasurer to a one-year term.

The National Mission Ride (Legacy Ride) is being hosted by the Walker American Legion Riders this year and will take place on Aug. 16. We are looking forward to a fun time in Walker.

The MNALR Romp is being planned and will be Sept. 11-14. If you are interested in helping to plan this fun weekend, please contact myself or the MNALR Secretary Shawn Davis.

I know there are many other chapter runs and fundraisers happening across the state and throughout the year. Please invite me to your events so I can see all the good things you are doing! If you would like help setting up a chapter at your Post, please let me or your district Riders representative know so we can help you get things going.

If you are interested in having me talk to your chapter or district about the reason for writing a constitution and a set of bylaws, please contact me. I can be reached at [email protected] or 651-329-7197.

God bless and keep the rubber side down.

Jody Hassing of Bloomington Unit 550 is the director of the Minnesota American Legion Riders.
