We call on lawmakers to provide meaningful tax relief. The state has a large budget surplus and can afford to reduce how it taxes charities involved in gambling. Our posts pay more in charitable taxes than they give to the charities they support. Let’s help our veterans by cutting state taxes on charitable gambling.
Thrift store in Hibbing donates $10,000 to Silver Bay Veterans Home
HIBBING — The Silver Bay Veterans Home was delighted to accept a generous $10,000 donation from the Veterans Community Thrift Store in Hibbing. This donation will be used to purchase a van to help transport residents to events and other social and leisure activities in the community.

MINNEAPOLIS — The historic truss bridge spanning Minnehaha Creek from Minnehaha Park to the Minneapolis Veterans Home reopened on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

A dues increase is coming July 1. National HQ is raising its share of dues $5. The Department of Minnesota is expected to pass a $3 dues increase at the Department Convention. Some districts will be asking for a $1 or $2 increase at their district conventions.

Minneapolis bridge between VA and veterans home to close
MINNEAPOLIS — On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Minnesota Department of Administration notified the Minneapolis Veterans Home that the historic truss bridge on our campus will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12 until further notice.

Turkey hunt for disabled veterans scheduled for Camp Ripley
CAMP RIPLEY — The Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt is set for April 30 to May 2 at Camp Ripley. Registration begins Feb. 1. Applications are due March 9.
