I hope this finds you well. I am reaching out to you today on behalf of The American Legion to request your support for our Minnesota veterans.

We are currently seeking donations for Minnesota Veterans Assistance Fund (aka Fund 85), which plays a crucial role in enabling us to continue our mission of providing vital services and support to our veterans.

Donating to Fund 85 goes far beyond supporting our veterans — it strengthens the community as a whole. By ensuring these vital services remain operational, we help improve the welfare and prosperity of both our veterans and society.

Your generous contribution allows us to assist veterans with a range of crucial needs, including car repairs, overdue utility bills, phone bills, and housing security to prevent homelessness. We also have provided support to widows of our Minnesota veterans in need.  Assisted to purchase vehicles for veterans, ensuring they can commute to work or medical appointments.

In times of urgent need, we’ve supplied food and gas gift cards and referred veterans to local food banks.

Financial stress can often be a triggering factor for suicide ideation, especially when individuals feel overwhelmed by debt, bills, or the fear of losing their home.  Many veterans face these pressures daily, and without the assistance Fund 85 provides, these stresses can escalate into feelings of hopelessness.

By donating, you’re not only helping alleviate financial burdens, but you’re also providing a lifeline that can help prevent these tragic outcomes. Your support plays a vital role in saving lives and ensuring veterans have the resources and hope to move forward.

Fund 85 utilizes the “Unite Us” program to manage our caseload.  This program enables us to refer veterans to other organizations that have specialized resources to better assist them. Our dedicated team ensures that the funds are distributed wisely, focusing not only on immediate financial relief but also on equipping veterans with long-term financial management skills. We believe in empowering our veterans to be self-sufficient and financially stable. Therefore, through Unite Us, we connect them with organizations that can teach them how to budget effectively, ensuring their future financial well-being.

We understand that there are various ways to allocate your charitable funds, and we appreciate your consideration of our cause. Any contribution, big or small, will make a substantial impact on the lives of our Minnesota veterans.  Your support is an investment in the welfare of our community and a demonstration of gratitude for the sacrifices made by our brave veterans.

If your post is willing and able to make a donation, please make your check payable to “Minnesota American Legion Foundation” and indicate “Fund 85” in the memo section.  Checks not written to the Minnesota American Legion Foundation will be returned.

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) and can accept gambling funds.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and your support of Minnesota veterans.
