FORT SNELLING — As of October, 115,172 Minnesota veterans or their survivors received a monthly VA benefit. That comes to $166 million a month. For the year, the total is 1.99 billion.
Charitable gambling revenue across Minnesota rose 9 percent
ROCHESTER — Revenue rose in the realm of charitable gambling in Minnesota in fiscal year 2024 by 9 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a net of $712 million and allowing Minnesota charities to increase donations by $6 million.

Thank you to everyone who opened their post homes to me the week of Veterans Day. I began my week participating in a flag-raising with Department Vice Commander Bill Gordon at Magnus Veterans Foundation in Dayton on Friday, Nov. 8.

As the 2024 calendar year comes to an end, our membership goals continue to improve as we move forward into 2025. Please keep up the great work. Our membership numbers for our district are still meeting or exceeding our Legion goals.

So now we are in the heart of the holiday season. Veterans Day and membership celebrations are behind us. Hunters are all in from the woods, and we are all stuffed like Thanksgiving turkeys. I hope everyone had a wonderful, safe autumn filled with blessings and success.

The Winter Carnival parade is Saturday, Jan. 25 — meet at Arcade-Phalen Post 577 by noon. Membership rally will be after the parade. Everyone is welcome to attend.
