IRONTON — A lot of folks throughout the Minnesota American Legion Family know Anthony Koop from statewide get-togethers — rallies, conventions and conferences. He’s smiling, making jokes and, when he was 6th District commander this past year, usually winning membership awards.

The 2024-2025 year has arrived, and the 4th district is hitting the road with a great new program called The Legion Cruisers. This new program will be similar to our Legion Riders program, only with classic/modified car enthusiasts.

We had a huge turnout for the membership packet pickups in the district. Of 81 posts, 72 showed up at the meetings.

As I start my second year as 1st District commander, I have more experience than my first year. Which I think makes it easier to do the tasks of the district without the learning curve and can concentrate on the task at hand running out of the gate. If you have the time and patience, then by all means do it.

My theme for this year is “Do Your Part,” a nod to a wartime slogan for the Women’s Army Corps (WACs), to acknowledge all the important roles each of us plays in this organization. I think it fits well with the 10th District Auxiliary President Bethany Dickert’s theme “Lift Each Other Up.”
