World War II veteran Mervin “Butch” Jones celebrated his 100th birthday on Monday, Feb. 17, at the Woodstone Senior Living Center in New Ulm. Joining Jones were members of Cambria Legion Post 329 and dozens of his family and friends. Jones served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was onboard his ship in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese Empire surrendered on Sept. 2, 1945. He joined Cambria Post 329 80 years ago and is one of the longest serving American Legion members in Minnesota.
