Which district has the most baseball/softball titles?

By Tim Engstrom

Before we get into who has the most, first, it’s good to understand divisions:

In American Legion Baseball across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, “Senior” means players 19 and under and “Junior” is for players 17 and under.

In Minnesota, Div. II teams come from schools with grades 10-12 enrollments below 400. Div. I teams typically have 10-12 enrollments 400-3,600, though some below-400 schools will play up. A good example is Healy High School in Pierz, which competes as Pierz Post 341. Standing at 303 students, the coach could pick Div. II, but he chose Div. I instead and his team even made it to the Div. I State Tournament this season.

Before this season, Div. I-A was Tier I-A, and it was a small side tournament for second teams. Now it has expanded to allow metro-area mid-enrollment teams and next year might open up statewide.
Fastpitch softball is for girls’ softball teams statewide, and presently there is one division.
