Vet Center event is set for June 13

ST. CLOUD — Minnesota is getting a fourth Vet Center in the form of an outstation.

The grand opening and open house ceremony for the St. Cloud Vet Center Outstation happens at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at 330 Highway 10 S., Suite 101.

Vet Centers offer readjustment counseling for veterans, servicemembers and spouses without that counseling becoming part of their medical record.

Adding Vet Centers in this state has been an issue The American Legion Department of Minnesota has pushed for since the mid-2000s. It passed a convention resolution on it in 2011.

That’s because Minnesota has one of the worst Vet Center-to-veteran ratios in the country.

Minnesota has three Vet Centers: Anoka, St. Paul and Duluth. The St. Cloud outstation is a satellite of the Anoka one. The state veterans community hopes it develops into a full-fledged Vet Center.
