Spanier wins award for hiring veterans
ST. CLOUD — The Department of Minnesota Employment Committee has selected Spanier Bus Service of St. Cloud to receive the honor of the Employer of Veterans Award.
The bus company employs nine full-time workers and 51 part-time workers. Of those, 10 percent are veterans. Furthermore, the company hired six people last year, of which one was a veteran.
Spanier Bus Service was nominated by Silver Star Post 428 in Waite Park.
“This was an easy selection for me,” said Employment Committee Chairman Luis Campero. “I live in Sauk Rapids and work in St. Cloud. I see Spanier’s school buses serving the St. Cloud Area School District.”
According to the nomination form, the company was established in 1967. It presently operates at 1310 Sunridge Drive on the south side of St. Cloud.
It will be recognized at the Department Convention in July in Willmer. Convention dates are July 9-11. Spanier is the winner of the award in the medium category for having 51-200 employees. Categories for small (50 or fewer) and large (201 or more) remain open for nominations.
Nomination forms can be found at mnlegion.org or by contacting Jennifer Kelley at the Department HQ via [email protected].
