NECman: Make plans for the coming fall schedule
Congratulations to Jim LaCoursiere Jr. of Connecticut on being elected national commander for the 2024-25 American Legion year. I thank the nearly 300 Legion Family members from Minnesota who attended the National Convention In New Orleans. It takes time away from home and dollars with sacrifices being made.
Legionville summer session will be history as you read this, but I am sure a great time was had by all. Another great Camporee was held, too.
I hope some of you enjoyed the Harvest Rally at Fridley Post 303. We separated this rally from the Camporee, so it can stand as its own event.
Have you called the Kelly Inn and made your room reservations for Fall Conference? Send your reservation and meal choices into Al Davis today as meal tickets will not be available at the conference.
The caterer needs to be aware of the number of meals to plan for. Registration forms are in this Legionnaire issue.
Fall Conference dates are Oct. 24-26.
National Fall meetings are Oct 5-11 for me, in Indianapolis. Dates may be shorter for some of you attending.
I hope your post has planned for a post membership gathering. “Be the One” to do buddy checks. Remember, it is not the price you pay to belong. It is the price you paid to belong. Be PROUD to belong to the largest veterans organization.
It is time to make plans for your Veterans Day program in your community. Nov. 11 is a Monday. Go to your school to make a plan now.
Please contribute to Commander Dr. Carl Moon’s project soon. Be a Leader, Character, Competence and Commitment. As Past National Commander Dan Ludwig would say, “Are you a leader or follower?”
And like I often say, “Focus on the positive.”
Donna and I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming district rallies, and post membership dinners as well as the Fall Conference.
It’s always great to be among fellow veterans. A veteran is a veteran is a veteran.
Bill Barbknecht of Fergus Falls Post 30 is the Department of Minnesota’s National Executive Committeeman.
