NaSalle backed for department vice commander


Steven NaSalle has been endorsed for department vice commander by Adamson-Norman Post 30 in Fergus Falls.
NaSalle is the current commander for the 9th District, having served in the role since 2023. He has been a Legionnaire for 23 years.
He is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1981 to 1992 with combat deployments to the Grenada Invasion of 1983 and to the Persian Gulf War of 1991. He was with TACP (Tactical Air Control Party). The Air Force would attach him to Army units to call in airstrikes. Because he was Airborne-qualified, he often served with Airborne infantry.
He was chaplain for Chanhassen Post 580 in 2020-21. He was commander for Chaska Post 57 in 2017-20. He served as 3rd District vice commander in 2020-22. He was 9th District vice commander 2022-24.
He is the chair of the 9th District National Security/Foreign Relations Committee and represents the 9th District on the Legionville Board of Directors. He is a past 9th District director for the American Legion Riders and continues to be a member with Moorhead Chapter 21. He is a member of Moorhead SAL Squadron 21, too.
At the department level, he is on the Credentials Committee.
He and his wife live in Fergus Falls. He has four grown children. The oldest son, Anthony, serves in the Kansas National Guard.
