Knutson endorsed for department chaplain
Pederson-Tripp Post 357 of Ashby has endorsed Dean Knutson for the office of department chaplain for the 2026-27 membership year.
Knutson is a 38-year PUFL member of The American Legion.
At the post level, he served as service officer, historian, 2nd vice commander, 1st vice commander and commander.
At the district level, he has been vice commander, membership director, commander and judge advocate.

At the department level, Knutson served as chaplain in 2023-24. He is a 2022 graduate of Minnesota American Legion College. He served as sergeant-at-arms 2011-12. He was vice commander for the 2nd and 7th districts in 2010-11.
At the national level, he served on the Americanism Commission from 2006 to 2011.
Knutson is a member of Kvam Free Lutheran Church in rural Dalton, where he has served as deacon, trustee and treasurer. He is involved in the city of Marshall Public Housing Commission and Food for Kids program.
Dean is married to his wife, Deanna. She is a member of Ashby Auxiliary Unit 357. They have six grown children between them and seven grandchildren. They reside in Marshall and attend Living Word Lutheran Church.
