Jass endorsed for sergeant-at-arms

Betty Jass has been endorsed for Department of Minnesota sergeant-at-arms for the 2024-25 year by Benjamin A. Remmele Post 7 in Sleepy Eye.

She is eligible for membership in The American Legion through her 22 years of military service in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1997.

Jass is a past department chaplain and a 2021 graduate of Minnesota Legion College. She serves on the Credentials Committee and is a member of the American Legion Riders, with Bricelyn Chapter 165.

At the national level, she has served on the National Cemetery Committee since 2021.

Within the 2nd District, Jass has been vice commander and historian, as well as serving on committees for Safety Patrol, Membership, National Security and Public Relations. She served two years on the Legionville Board of Directors.

With Post 7, she is a 27-year PUFL member. She presently serves as adjutant and membership director. She also has served as 2nd vice commander and service officer. She is a member of the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.

In her community, Jass is the president of the Ranchland Homeowners Association, president of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and chairwoman for the National Catholic Society of Foresters Compensation Committee.

Jass resides in Lake Crystal and has two daughters, Sandra and Teresa. Sandra recently retired from the Air Force after 25 years and is a Post 7 member. Teresa was a National Guard member for six years and was a Legionnaire before her death in 2012.

Jass has a passion to help her fellow veterans and their families.
