Have you heard of the Legion Cruisers?

ST. PAUL — There is a new movement afoot with The American Legion nationally. It started in North Carolina and is spreading to other states.

It is called the American Legion Cruisers. Much like the Riders, it is for members of the Legion, Auxiliary or SAL but they have classic automobiles, which is defined as 20 or more years old, or have custom cars.

Fourth District Commander Jon Haworth is leading the charge in Minnesota. He has a custom 2012 Subaru WRX, a performance car.

“We can start by doing car shows at a post, then it can turn into a cruise from one post to another or many others.”

He hopes to enlist the help of posts to launch Legion Cruiser chapters across the state and form up a department level.

Contact Haworth at jhaworth@kw.com if your post wants a Legion Cruisers.

“We’ll obviously need a chain of command for this club, so please ask around for people that would be interested in those positions.”
