Fernlund endorsed for department vice commander

Veronica Fernlund has been endorsed by Silver Star Post 428 in Waite Park for Department Vice Commander for the 2024-2025 year. Fernlund served in the Air Force from 1986 to 1991.  She is a 22-year Paid Up for Life member at Post 428 and served as Post Commander and is currently the Historian.

On the 6th District level, she served as District Commander, Vice Commander, County Council Vice Commander, held several chairmanships and is currently the Historian and National Security Chairman.

On the Department of Minnesota level, Fernlund is currently the Children & Youth Vice Chairman and previously served on the Credentials Committee, was instramental on past Training Committees and a recipient of the James Oldenburg Children & Youth Award. Fernlund has been a delegate to several national conventions and has taken national training courses.

Fernlund is a menber of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 428, DAV Chapter 290, 40/8 Voiture 415, Past President of St. Cloud Area Metrovets and currently the 1st Vice President activily organizing annual patriotic community events.

She and her husband, Tom (Air Force veteran and Past Department Commander), have been married 34 years and have two sons, two daughters and two grandsons. Daughter Kristen is a schoolteacher, daughter Kaitlin is currently serving in the Navy, son Michael is serving in the Minnesota Army National Guard and son Chris is serving in the Air Force.
