Fernlund endorsed for Alternate National Executive Committeeman


Thomas A. Fernlund has been endorsed by Silver Star Post 428 in Waite Park for Alternate National Executive Committeeman for 2025-2027.
Fernlund served in the Air Force from 1981-1992. He is a 33-year honorary life member at Waite Park Post 428, served as post commander for two terms and has been the adjutant since 2014.
On the Department of Minnesota level, he served as commander in 2021-2022 and was involved in the launch of American Legion Fastpitch Softball in Minnesota. He is currently the president of the Department Convention Corp. and a member of the Minnesota American Legion Hospital Association Board of Directors.
Other department offices held were vice commander, membership director and sergeant-at-arms.
On the 6th District level, Fernlund served as commander, adjutant, vice commander, membership director. He presently is the district adjutant and softball director. He is a past commander of the Stearns County Council
On the national level, Fernlund serves on the Media and Communications Commission (since 2013) and is a 2007 graduate of National American Legion College. He is a menber of ANAVICUS and the past department and district commander clubs.
He is a member of Auxiliary Unit 428, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 428, 40&8 Voiture 415, DAV and is the St. Cloud Area Metrovets finance officer.
Fernlund has been employed at Rex Granite Co. in St. Cloud as a sales representative for 23 years. Tom and his wife, Veronica (an Air Force veteran, past 6th District commander and current department vice commander) have been married 36 years in June and have two sons, two daughters and three grandsons.
Son Chris is currently serving in the Air Force, daughter Kaitlin is serving in the Navy, son Michael is serving in the Minnesota Army National Guard and daughter Kristen is a schoolteacher.
