Everyone can contribute to the history of the Auxiliary
Every day is an opportunity to make history. It is up to the historian to document the events of today to be remembered tomorrow.
As you embark on a new year of service, remember to record the information about all your ALA and American Legion Family events. Make a point of documenting the specifics immediately following the event or occasion. Trying to remember later can cause you to forget some of the special details that make your unit stand out from the others.
Take and print lots of photos. This documentation will make it much easier to report on your accomplishments next spring.
Unit historians should work closely with the unit secretary so you both have accurate records. Try to put yourself in the place of our members of the future. None of us know what that picture will look like as our organization and membership evolves, but accurate records can keep what you have done now “alive” for them. Your history is the legacy of your ALA unit.
