Detachment to match squadron donations to Minnesota Boys State 75th Anniversary Banquet

At the Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Minnesota Spring meeting held in mid-March at Forest Lake Legion Post 225, the Detachment Executive Committee voted to match any squadron donation, dollar for dollar, that is earmarked for the Minnesota Boys State 75th Anniversary Banquet.

Minnesota SAL has long been a supporter of Minnesota Boys State. Many counselors are members of the SAL and some are dual members.

Detachment Commander John Weiss commented: “Our squadrons see the value of having each post send boys to Minnesota Boys State. Many squadrons provide money each year so their Legion post can send an extra boy. By matching squadrons’ money donated to the 75th Anniversary Banquet, those in attendance, counselors, staff and alumni can remember an event that keeps Minnesota Boys State growing.”

Checks must be made out to: “Minnesota American Legion Foundation” with “Fund 77 Banquet” in the memo. It must indicate the banquet and must be received by June 1. Send checks to Minnesota American Legion Foundation, 20 W. 12th St. Room 300A., St. Paul, MN 55155.

Fund 77 is the fund for Minnesota Boys State. Anoka Squadron 102 member David Way, the dean of Minnesota Boys State, has scheduled the banquet for June 8 at Anoka Post 102.
