Dennis DeLong endorsed for department vice commander

Minneapolis-Richfield Post 435 has endorsed Dennis DeLong for the position of Minnesota department vice commander 2025-2026.

DeLong has served as 1st vice commander, 2nd vice commander, executive board member, finance officer, property and finance member and holding corporation member at Minneapolis-Richfield Post 435.

At the district level, he has served as district commander, 1st vice commander, 2nd vice commander, 3rd vice commander, adjutant, finance officer, Employment Committee chair, Finance Committee and Constitution & Bylaws chairman.

At the department level, he has served as department vice commander (4th & 5th District), department historian three times, sergeant-at-arms, member of the Minnesota American Legion Foundation Board of Directors and currently serves on the Department Finance Committee. He is a past chair of the Finance Committee, too.

At Post 435, he has served as 1st vice commander and finance officer. He is part of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Rifle Squad.

He served in the Navy from 1975 to 1980 as a disbursing clerk 2nd class on the USS Jose, a combat supply ship. He spent time at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif., where he had two surgeries on his right knee.
