Come to the State Office Building in St. Paul on Thursday

CALL TO ACTION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF MINNESOTA:

There is a sports betting bill, HF2000, that provides historic tax breaks for charitable gambling in Minnesota that will benefit our posts. We, The American Legion Department of Minnesota, can support this bill.

We desire lawmakers to see many American Legion caps in the audience at the hearing. We want to rally behind this bill.

Join the American Legion Department of Minnesota Legislative Committee and show our support for Chairwoman Kristy Janigo as she testifies before the committee.

The House State & Local Government Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, in Room 10 of the State Office Building, which is directly southwest of the State Capitol.

HF2000 establishes lawful sports betting in Minnesota, and it is a bill all sides involved in the gambling industry are coming together on: veterans’ groups, tribes, nonprofits, legislators and others. The tax breaks are expected to be in the neighborhood of $40 million. State taxes on sports betting are what will fund the charitable gambling tax cuts. The cuts would forever improve our post’s ability to continue to serve our communities through gambling fundraisers such as pulltabs and e-tabs.

Licensed charitable organizations involved in gambling in Minnesota have been calling for tax relief for 20 years. This is the moment to act. Come to St. Paul.
