What a ride! With your help, we nailed the March 15 national goal of 85 percent. It was a nail-biter for me, but you proved that Minnesota is indeed strong and mighty.

The next department goal is 95 percent membership by May 23 (Poppy Day). When I looked at our numbers on April 8, we were at 87.71 percent. This gives us just over six weeks to bring that number up 7.29 percent.

Minnesota has already shown me that its members and membership teams are amazing so I know we can nail this goal as well.

With the upcoming holidays, I would like to challenge every member to talk to someone new at an event and find out if they have a veteran in their life. Let them know about the ALA and the wonderful things we do for our veterans.

Invite them to an upcoming unit meeting or to an upcoming Memorial Day event. If they can see what we do and who we are, hopefully they will want to join.

Let them know we are a voice for spouses of veterans in St. Paul and D.C., too.
