Barbknecht endorsed as NEC representative
Bill Barbknecht, a member of the Adamson-Norman Post 30 Fergus Falls, has been endorsed by his post and the 9th District at their district convention for the office of National Executive Committee member representing the Department of Minnesota for the 2025-2027 executive term.
Barbknecht, a 54-year member of The American Legion, has served as 9th District commander, department vice commander, department membership chairman for two consecutive years and department commander. In addition to his national appointments, he presently serves as the Legionnaire Insurance Trust chairman for the Department of Minnesota.
He has served as chairman of the Rehabilitation Committee, Finance Committee, National Security and Community Service.
Barbknecht served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1968-1970 and 24 years in the North Dakota Air National Guard in Fargo. He retired after 38 years with the U.S. Postal Service.
Barbknecht is married to Donna Arends-Barbknecht. She served as Auxiliary Department President 2017-2018. They reside in Battle Lake. He has a son and daughter who are both veterans as well as their spouses.
Together they have five children, many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
