ALR Director: Let’s get the entire Legion Family to Paynesville
Happy Holidays!
Wow, I cannot believe that the end of November is upon us. Sadly, I have parked and covered my trike for the winter. The Riders met at Fall Conference the end of October, and it was voted for a committee to write a Constitution & By-Laws for the Minnesota American Legion Riders.
The reason this came up is because the original SOP referenced to two resolutions by the National American Legion that are no longer valid as they were superseded by the new American Legion Resolution No. 5 of 2021.
The committee will begin meeting in December and will plan to have a draft before the end of February.
The Pearl Harbor Family Gathering is a Legion event that is hosted by the American Legion Riders and will be Dec. 9 at the Paynesville American Legion. Sign up on Eventbrite. Social hour will be at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon, with a program to follow. I plan to talk about the Riders and how they fit into the Minnesota American Legion family. I am looking forward to seeing many of our Legion Riders there as well as the rest of the Legion Family!
I know there are many other chapter runs and fundraisers happening across the state and throughout the year, please invite me to your events so I can see all the good things you are doing! If you would like help setting up a chapter at your Post, please let me or your district Riders representative know so we can help you get things going.
If you are interested in having me talk to your chapter or district about the reason for writing a constitution and bylaw at this time, please contact me.
God bless and keep the rubber side down.
Jody Hassing of Bloomington Unit 550 is the director of the Minnesota American Legion Riders.
