Post 212 commander hopes all posts use his new mobile app

WILLMAR — Park Rapids Post 212 Commander Kasey Krautkremer wanted to publicize his post’s activities and menu specials.

“There isn’t really a good way to do that,” he said.

Driving home one day, he was contemplating an easier way to get the word out. He came up with an idea — make a free mobile app — and he asked his brother, Jamie, to build it.

It’s called the Where’s It App, and he wants to make it available to all the Legion posts in the state or even the nation. For free.

Krautkremer doesn’t make any money from it.

“I would rather help veterans than anybody else,” he said.

Krautkremer is an Air Force veteran with a wife, Crystal, and they have one daughter and two sons. He is retired from the fire department. He is in his third year as post commander.

The app is available in the App Store and Google Play. People can just do the website at

wheresitapp.online.

“You just create an account, and then you can add an event,” he said.

He hopes it becomes the go-to place for the general public to find listings for events and specials at American Legion posts in Minnesota. Users already will find Park Rapids Post 212 information on there. Post 212 has its bingo nights listed.

Krautkremer said users can login on a laptop computer, too, and enter their events.

“It filters by type of event, too,” he said. “This would be a good answer to the question: Do you know a post around here that’s having a fish fry?”

Users can separate out food specials from bingo from live music and all kinds of categories for events. A map helps find posts, too.
