FORT SNELLING — The Twin Cities Civil War Round Table moved in September 2026 to Historic Fort Snelling’s Plank Museum.

The move reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding experience for members and guests while ensuring a welcoming and accessible environment for future generations of Civil War enthusiasts.

“We are excited about this new chapter in the history of the Twin Cities Civil War Round Table,” said President John-Erich Mantius. “Our new location offers an excellent setting for the engaging presentations, lively discussions, and fellowship that have defined our organization for decades. We look forward to welcoming both longtime members and those discovering us for the first time.”

Founded in 1955, the Twin Cities Civil War Round Table has served as a leading educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the American Civil War.

The round table meets on the third Tuesday of the month from September through May, except April. It brings in nationally recognized experts on the domestic war.

The next speaker is slated for Nov. 17: Chris Mackowski is the author of “The Last Days of Stonewall Jackson.” Social hour is 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a speaker at 6 p.m.

It had been gathering at the Bloomington Event Center before the move. However, the Knights of Columbus #3827 is closing down the event center. The land is being purchased by a neighboring auto dealership.
