ALR Director: So many roads and not enough time to ride
So many roads and not enough time to ride
Warmer weather means more motorcycles on the road, and a little extra awareness goes a long way. Watching your blind spots, giving riders plenty of space, and staying patient can really help keep everyone safe.
“Minnesota Nice” not only applies to those behind handlebars, but to those behind the wheel, too.
Now that I have presented my safety reminder to all, I would like to give a shout-out to Commander Linda Dvorak for the invitation to be part of the department leadership bowling team for the Minnesota American Legion Bowling Tournament at Sundance Lanes on March 28.
The team included Dvorak, ALA President Robin Dorf, SAL Detachment Commander Jeremy Copher and me.
Overall, I thought we did okay. Yes, to be honest, gutter balls occurred but so did strikes, which brought smiles and fist bumps among us four. Overall, we had fun and enjoyed the fellowship. I can say with certainty that we will not expect to hear from the Professional Bowlers Association any time soon.
Across Minnesota, rides are being planned. Go to CycleFish.com and look at the Minnesota Motorcycle Event Calendar 2026. Many more rides, bike blessings, etc. are posted here.
Go to the mnalr.org Facebook page for postings of rides and other events posts are hosting or sponsoring too. Go to any motorcycle dealer business or website for postings of rides. Reach out to other posts and inquire. The availability for rides that support much-deserved causes is unlimited. You just need to know where to look or ask if you’re unable to find one. Let me know. I’ll help you find one.
(See chart below.)

Finally, at the time I submitted this article, Lino Lakes Riders had the traveling trophy. Remember, post a picture of the group and where it’s at, of who stole the trophy and then inform Matt Berens of this endeavor so he can get it out for all to see and for those riders who what to steal it next.
God bless our veterans and their families and remember: “Let’s Be Awesome Today!”
Duane Mabon of Pipestone Post 6 is the director of the Minnesota American Legion Riders.
