8th District Commander’s Report

Greetings from the 8th District!
Thank you to everyone for working so hard on getting our membership increased across the district. It’s not always an easy task, but I appreciate all your work. Let’s continue to reach out to our non-renewal members. Sometimes, doing a buddy check, or meeting for coffee, will be enough to bring them to renew. The same thing with the Post 1982 and 1982AD members in your area. Spring is coming, so maybe a group picnic or breakfast gathering will get them in. Show them that they are still remembered and appreciated.
Report time is approaching fast. Make sure your reports get turned in in a timely manner. Be as thorough as possible when reporting what your post does for activities.
When you send in your lists of officers, we are asking that you not just put “Same as Last Year.” Please fill out the information and send it in, making sure a copy comes to the district adjutant. (The department has officer forms from over 100 years ago. Imagine if our founders had put “same as last year” on them.) Thank you.
The District Convention is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at West Duluth Post 71 in Duluth.
The Executive Board will meet at 9 a.m., the joint meeting at 10 a.m., the Memorial Service at 11 a.m., and lunch will be around noon.
Please try to have your number of attendees to the adjutant no later than May 15. Send your post deceased lists to Adjutant Carl Hendrickson and remind your Auxiliaries to send theirs to Auxiliary Chaplain Mary Hendrickson.
I look forward to seeing everyone whenever winter gets over. Take care!
