Chaplain: No such thing as a dumb question
Just ask.
This is a phrase that I am sure that most of us have heard time and time again in our lifetime. It could have been when we were a young child and talking to a brother or sister and they did not know the answer so they said, “Just ask Mom or Dad.”
It may have been in our years in school when we were asked a question that we did know the answer to so we said, “Just ask the teacher.”
No matter what the circumstances were, we have all been at one time or another at a point that we need to just ask the question to find out the answer. There is a saying: “There is no such thing as a dumb question.”
This aspect holds true to each and every one of us as we deal with daily occurrences in our lives. It may be a personal situation, a problem we have at work, or maybe just talking to a friend about things that are going on in our lives; the same thing is true, if we what to know the answer to anything — just ask.
The word “ask” also can stand for, “Acknowledge the situation, Support the information that you find out during the conversation, and Keep in touch with one another to let individuals know that they are not forgotten.”
Now how do we use this in our spiritual lives as well.
First, acknowledge our sins, keep the downfalls to ourselves and then through prayer acknowledge them before God. By doing this we open ourselves up to the loving Grace of God and his everlasting forgiveness. This may by uncomfortable for us at first, but if we pray as if we are talking to our best friend, it becomes easier each time and we feel more comfortable.
Second, support for our problems will come to us in many ways and they may be other believers in our God, conversations with one another about what is going on it our lives, or a Bible study and finding those scriptures that can help us through daily situations.
Third, keep in touch. Even though we have acknowledged out sins before God, we need to pray without ceasing and he will support us through these obstacles in your lives. We always need to remember that God’s love is unending and is always there for us if we JUST ASK.
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace in time of need.”
“Therefore, confess your sins to another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person to powerful and affective.”
