8th District Commander’s Report

Hello to the 8th District Family!

It’s been very cold this past month. I hope everyone is staying warm and healthy. Hopefully we will get a warm spell soon.

Membership has been on the rise throughout the department. Thank you to everyone for their hard work so far. Keep reaching out to our missing members so they know that they are still thought of.

As many of you know, we cancelled the Mid-Winter Conference at Vets on the Lake due to the extreme cold weather. We are still looking into whether we will reschedule it.

I am still looking for donations from posts for my Commander’s Project to support Legionville. As of this writing, six posts have made donations. If your post hasn’t donated to this project, please donate what you can. Thank you for the support that has been given so far. Our district goal is $5,000.

Boys State and Girls State information is coming out soon. Please make sure that your local schools receive the information. The same thing for any scholarship opportunities.

The Appreciation Rally is March 14 at Bloomington American Legion Post 550.  Registration is free. They are asking for donations to the Department Commander’s Project in lieu of a registration fee.

As always, the district officers are here to help if you need us. All you need to do is let us know. Please stay safe. Before we know it, spring and warm weather will be upon us!
