8th District Commander’s May 2025 Report

Greetings from “The Eighth.”

Now that winter is finally just about over, we need to look to our membership totals. We can do buddy checks and call members who have not renewed their membership. All it takes is a little time on the part of our officers and members to call a few people and give a little reminder to improve our membership numbers. This is also a good time to make contact with members we have not seen over the winter. We want to “Be the One” to make calls where it will make a difference.

We are in the period where we are electing new post officers for the new year and encourage officers to be more involved in our district. We need more attendance at our district meetings to support the programs that we sponsor. Our baseball is going great and it is good to see fastpitch softball expanding.

We need to keep up our awareness of reports and activities that must be submitted to the department as things pick up in the spring and summer. I hope our people had a chance to attend Veterans Day on the Hill, as it gives us the opportunity to connect with elected officials to express our concerns.

Let us work on the four pillars of The American Legion and increase our membership. God bless the American Legion Family.
