8th District commander’s July 2024 report

By Dan Siats

Greetings to the 8th District, known as the District of Lakes and Pines! It’s been a very short three months being the interim commander for the 8th District. Thanks to all that have been there to lead your vast experience in all American Legion matters!

Our District Convention on June 8 at Aurora Post 241 was very well-attended. Thank you, Aurora Post 241, for an awesome job of hosting the convention!

The district is always looking for more members to be involved even a little bit. All officers are holding their same positions, except for commander. Our incoming commander for 2024-2025 is Phillip Bodle of Hibbing Post 222.

If you’ve thought about going on an Honor Flight and have been putting it off, don’t wait! If you need help finding when the next trip from Minneapolis or any other major airport is, ask your county veterans service officer.

Dan Siats

They’ll help you get in contact with people who can assist you. The flights are free of charge for any veteran who served in a branch of the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean or Vietnam wars, or a veteran from any service era who is currently terminally ill.

The mission of the Honor Flights is to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials.

We want to thank Aurora Post 241 Adjutant Stave Bionich and a great group of veterans from the Iron Range. Their day spent sprucing up the grounds around the Silver Bay Veterans Home was appreciated!

Thank you to all of the Auxiliary members for the continuous support for veterans! Thank you for volunteering! Veterans helping veterans! Together we can! Be the One! Thank you to our veterans for being a member of The American Legion! To uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States of America!

Thank you!
