7th District Commander’s February 2025 Report

By Carl Wilson

Greetings from the Mighty 7 District:

Winter has finally come to the great state of Minnesota and things are starting to slow down in our area after the holidays and now the New Year is upon us. The snowbirds have left for their homes down south and those of us that stayed here for the winter are working on getting the remaining Legion members in the district renewed for the 2025 membership year.

This is typically the time of year that membership slows down, but I know that with some work we will be able to reach our goal in the 7th District. This is also a good time to remind everyone that soon we all will have to be getting those reports in for the year.

I would like to also challenge everyone to reach out to the members in your areas to see how they are doing. This is the time of year that many of our older veterans are not able to get out as much as they do in the summer months. We need to keep in contact with them.

They are the ones that have kept this great organization going for many years, talk to them, listen to them, learn from them.

We also need to talk with the younger veterans in our organization, see what they need, listen to their ideas on what would make our organization better and stronger. I think we all could learn from each other.

The older veterans need to realize that things may not work as well now as they did back in the early years and the younger veterans need to remember the older veterans have been though a lot in this organization.

If we do not work together, we will not survive. I hope to see all of you at many of the upcoming functions and I pray that everyone stays safe and healthy.
