6th District Commander’s November 2024 Report
Greetings from the Big 6th District.
As I write this, it looks like we are finally turning the page heading into fall. The leaves have turned and cleanup has begun. It seems like every time we get the leaves picked up, we get another windy day, and they all come back.
Oh well, that’s one of the many reasons I love the state of Minnesota. Just when you think you are getting used to the weather, it changes.
The American Legion year is in full swing. I am thoroughly enjoying all the membership dinners and events going on around the Big 6th District. It is such a privilege and pleasure getting out to our posts and being able to meet the leadership and members out there.
There is so much good work going on that it recharges my batteries to see it all. I keep getting to see what a vital part our posts and members play in our communities.
By the time this reaches you, the Minnesota Department Fall Conference and Halloween will be over. Hopefully everyone had a wonderful time and learned many things at the conference and had a safe trip home.
I also hope that all the little ghosts, goblins and superheroes had a wonderful time. Next up many will be headed out for various hunting trips. I wish all hunters a safe and successful hunt.
As of Oct. 16, our membership efforts are going well as we are at 66.62 percent. While we are on track and ahead of the schedule that has been published, we still have a lot of work to do. I know that together we can accomplish great things.
One other reminder is that we are heading into the holiday season. Let’s make extra sure we are checking in on folks. This can be a lonely time, so let’s be sure that everyone is remembered.
Until next time from the Grittner family to all of you, have a safe, happy Thanksgiving. Remember to Be the One!
