6th District Commander’s March-April 2025 Report

Greetings from the BIG 6th District.

We should all be proud of the work we have done so far this year. Many of our posts are at or above the 90 percent goal and working hard to continue to bring in more memberships. Now that it looks like the really cold weather is behind us (at least we hope so), it is time to get out to visit some of those members we haven’t seen for a while in person.

We all know there are people who wait to renew their membership until someone stops to visit them. There are those who say this is where the Department of Minnesota starts to fade. Let’s not let them be right.

Spring is always full of activities for The American Legion. We have reports coming due (Children & Youth, Consolidated Post Report, Officers Report, etc.), and nominations for awards (Firefighter of the Year, Peace Officer of the Year, Servicemember of the Year, and a whole lot more) are just an example.

We also nominate and elect our new post, squadron and chapter officers for the coming year.  It is our duty to encourage, mentor, and support those that are looking to step into leadership roles.

This is also the time where submissions for youth events (Boys & Girls State, Legionville Safety Training, Baseball, etc.) are coming due. Don’t let this opportunity pass by. I know we have some outstanding young people in our communities that would love to be a part of these events.

I hope to see many of you at the events and rallies that are coming up around the Department and in our BIG 6th District.

Until next time, stay safe, stay warm, and “Be the One” and “Together We Can” do wonderful things.
