5th District Commander’s February 2025 Report

The 5th District held our Oratorical Contest this last weekend, I would like to thank all the contestants, their friends and families for their support, our volunteers and especially to Wold-Chamberlain Post 99 in Minneapolis for its space to hold our contest. We had some great speakers and a very deserving winner.
Our 4th and 5th Districts Mid-Winter was very successful this year, with some good training and camaraderie. I believe it was enjoyed by all, especially our first-time attendees.
Thank you to the 4th District for hosting this year’s event.

Next up on our agenda is revitalization. We will be coming up with a date and place to host a revitalization event at our next district meeting on Feb. 1.
I’d also like to remind everyone that more volunteers are always needed at hospital visitation on the first Sunday of every month at 2 p.m. Please arrive early for instructions. I know these visits are truly appreciated by our hospitalized veterans.
Wold-Chamberlain Post 99 has a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on the fourth Sunday of each month through May. Many people have stated they are the best pancakes in town.
Also, Richfield Unit 435 has an omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on the second Sunday of each month through May. The breakfast is held at Post 99. Hope to see you there.
I’ve been watching all the emails flying from our 5th District Convention committee. They have been working very hard and everything is very close to being finalized. Our convention will be on Saturday, June 7, with our memorial service on Friday, June 6, and banquet also on June 7 after convention. Information will be sent out soon, please try to attend.
