5th District Commander’s December 2024 Report

Greetings from the 5th District. This year has just flown by. Thanksgiving is over. We are on to Christmas and all the winter holidays.

The 5th District will not be holding district meetings in December or January; however the 4th and 5th Districts Mid-Winter will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Arcade-Phalen Post 577. This year’s Mid-Winter Conference will be training oriented for all members of the 4th and 5th Districts Legion Family. I hope to see you all there!

We do have some sad news. Past District Commander Wade Larson passed away on Friday, Oct. 18. He was a member of Gopher Post 440. He will truly be missed.

As for membership, the 5th District is holding tightly to 10th place. We’ve been here before and understand the work we need to do to accomplish our goals. The district will look into holding a revitalization in the new year. If your post needs help before then, please let us know if you would like some assistance. We’re here for you.

The 5th District Oratorical will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at at Wold-Chamberlain Post 99.  If you have an interested contestant, please let me or Ray Eiden know. We also need help with judging, timekeeping, etc. Please let us know if you would be available.

The Winter Carnival parade is Saturday, Jan. 25 — meet at Arcade-Phalen Post 577 by noon. Membership rally will be after the parade. Everyone is welcome to attend.
