4th District Commander’s March-April 2025 Report

Hello, everyone! The year has started off with a bang and we are busier than ever planning different things happening within the district and the community. We had an executive meeting at the beginning of the month at Arcade-Phalen to try and devise a plan to not close the post, as revenue has decreased. We have a plan and we would truly appreciate more support from members.

My theme for this year is going to be, “We’re Getting it Done.” We’re doing some changes and we’re not asking permission anymore. We’re doing things differently because it needs to be done.

We had our first Legion Cruisers meeting on Feb. 9. Our next Legion Cruisers meeting will be on Sunday, March 9 at Arcade-Phalen Post 577 at 10 a.m. (after the Legionnaire comes out but before it reaches your mailbox). Slowly but surely this thing is coming together. Please tell all of your motorhead friends.

Once it warms up, I’m going to start organizing walks around Lake Phalen, which will then turn into a food shelf ruck march around Lake Phalen, and one starting at Minnehaha Falls and ending at the VA as the VA has a food shelf. I did a ruck march last year with Kristy Janigo, Alex Fleming, James Hultgren, Matt Berens, Janet Lorenzo and others. We had a fantastic time and wanted to go for a longer distance at the end. It’s always good to stay mobile and being active is what we used to do. So let’s be active again.

The VA visitations have been going well, and we’ve been getting more members to show up. We will need a new volunteer to be the leader of the 4th District VA visitation group.

We lost one of our dear legionnaires, Lou Michaels, this month. Lou was an Army Reservist and a longtime photographer. I will always remember his quick wit and jokes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful month!
