4 posts will host training for suicide prevention

BLOOMINGTON — Veterans and their supporters are invited to receive suicide-prevention training at four metro posts in June.

June 10, 6 p.m.: Bloomington Post 550, 311 W. 84th St.

June 15, 1 p.m.: Rosetown Memorial Post 542, 700 W. County Road C

June 24, 1 p.m.:  Hopkins Post 320, 10 12th Ave. S.

June 25: Golden Valley Chester Bird Post 523, 3:30 p.m., 200 Lilac Drive N.

VA Minneapolis staff will be on hand to present S.A.V.E. training. The VA’s S.A.V.E. teaches communities how to help veterans at risk for suicide. It will help you act with care and compassion if you encounter a veteran who is in suicidal crisis.

S: Signs of suicidal thinking should be recognized.

A: Ask the most important question of all.

V: Validate the veteran’s experience.

E: Encourage treatment and Expedite getting help.
