2nd District commander’s August report

By James Olson

Greetings, 2nd District!

Mugshot for James Olson
James Olson

My name is James Olson, and I am the newly elected 2nd District commander. I live near Amboy, went to elementary school in Winnebago and graduated from Blue Earth High School. After high school, I went into the Marines where I served as a machine gunner from 2003 to 2006. I joined Lorentz Post 11 in Mankato 19 years ago and have served in various offices there over the years as well as a vice commander and 1st vice commander in the 2nd District.

For most of last year, the 2nd District was in first place for membership. Let’s get at it this year and remain in first place all year long!

The district vice commanders for this year are: 1st Vice Commander Roxanne Zoet of Madelia Post 19, Kevin Kibler of Blue Earth Post 89, Tom Behrends of Brewster Post 464 and Stacy Foster of Bricelyn Post 165. Expect to see them visiting your post meetings and know that they are there to help your respective posts in any way they can.

I will do my best to visit as many posts as I can. With 78 posts in the district, it may not be possible. We are trying something new. Each month, I, along with the Auxiliary president, SAL commander and Riders director, will get out on what we’re calling the Commanders & Presidents Tour.

We hope to visit each county in the district and would invite everyone in the district to attend the events when they can. Watch the district newsletter for more information.
