10th District commander’s July 2024 report

By Matthew Berens

What a long, strange trip it’s been! Greetings one last time from the Mighty Tenth.

I would first like to congratulate Kristy Janigo for being elected as your 10th District commander for the 2024-2025 American Legion year. Kristy brings an astonishing amount of energy to the table, and knowledge well beyond her years.

I also want to thank everyone not just in the 10th District, but the Department of Minnesota as a whole. You have all been bedrocks of support and positive affirmation. I would not trade any of you for any amount of pulltabs or Fireball.

And a special thanks goes out to my family and all the good folks in my hometown of Benson. They have been following me in the Legionnaire and on social media — and in person. All of their positive comments and kind words have been such a great blessing during my time as commander.

Lastly, I want to add one thing: get involved at the post, district or department level, whether it’s with the Legion, Auxiliary, Sons or Riders. This year, as commander, has been an amazing experience filled with amazing people. What you put into The American Legion experience will yield positive memories to be cherished for a lifetime.

Sure, there are some challenges along the way, and we all need to pitch in, but in my opinion,  the end game is well worth the effort.

Again, thanks to you all for being a part of the greatest organization for the greatest veterans on Earth. God bless you, and God bless America.
